I have seen Meridian thanks to a friend. I cried through it:( I have been involved in this SDJ campaign and have been angered by the treatment that Michael Shanks and the character of Daniel Jackson has received. 

I have found myself insulted and pushed away by the actions of a certain writer who likes to come on the net.

All of these things have made my mind up for me NOT to watch season six.

But it was Sentinel that broke my heart:(

Any of you who have interacted with me in SG1 fandom over the years knows how much I loathe the episode Shades of Grey. For me this episode was like the first sounding of the warning bell for the changes and mistakes to come. It was the first time that Jack treated Daniel so coldly...yes there was a reason given, but it WAS the first and it was like someone said *hey they let us get away with it here..let's try it again*.

But THE thing that I hated the most about the Shades of Grey episode was what they did to Col. Makepeace.  Yes, I LIKED Makepeace. I thought his style and his way of doing things was a nice counter balance to Jack and added realism and helped Jack have depth as a character. Without that counter, you can't fully appreciate the quirks of O'Neill:) Makepeace was honorable and he was the first to step forward to lead the rescue mission when SG1 was finally located after being captured by Hathor. He was a good man.

In Shades of Grey they turned him into the fall guy and Jack was SO pleased to capture him and turn him in. Jack was so sanctimonious about being better than Makepeace who was doing what HE thought was the best thing to protect his country. He stole weapons technology and tried to find defense systems. WE were told by the writers, through the reactions of Jack and Hammond that this was terrible and treasonous.

Last night in Sentinel I found out that Makepeace is on death row for this. He has been stripped of his honor as a soldier and hero. He has been vilified for his actions. Jack showed he has only contempt for those who were involved in those types of actions and therefore one must conclude he has only contempt for Col. Makepeace who once risked his life to save Jack.

Makepeace has been decreed a comtemptible villain unworthy of being a part of the SGC or even to be in service of his country for stealing alien technology and trying to find a way to use it to protect his home world from a dangerous threat. Makepeace is going to die as a dishonored man.

And in season six, Jonas Quinn is going to take Daniel Jackson's place of honor on SG1 all because he stole technology from his homeworld to give to the Tau'ri people to protect their homeworld. A man who committed the same act of treason..though against his world and people not earth's..will be welcomed by Jack, Carter, Teal'c and Hammond to join the SGC in a place of honor that belongs Daniel Jackson...and my beloved Makepeace will be dead.
