Cast farewells get Sci Fi airtime

The official Sci Fi Channel website has begun to show videos from the main cast members of Stargate SG-1, starting with Christopher Judge, who talks about his ten years as Teal'c and what the future holds for him, including some intriguing hints about a television pilot he's written.

Meanwhile, our friends at Michael Shanks Online tell us that the newest round of Stargate SG-1 action figures, featuring Cameron Mitchell, Vala Mal Doran, an Ori Prior and Black Ops Daniel are now on sale. Coming soon from Diamond Select Toys, who also produce a range of Stargate: Atlantis action figures, will be a further range of SG-1 figures, including camouflage-clad Jack O'Neill and Daniel Jackson.

More on Shanks '24' appearance

"So I started watching, and lo and behold, I'm watching for good reason, because it ended up being homework for what I was going to be involved with."

That's Michael Shanks, talking about his upcoming role on hit show 24, where he takes a break from stepping through the Stargate as archaeologist Daniel Jackson to travel the corridors of power as Washington lobbyist Mark Bishop. Shanks reveals some spoilers about his role on the show in this interview, so if you don't want to know in advance, tune in for his first scenes next Monday (April 23rd) rather than clicking on the link below.

Chris Judge Q&A on official SG-1 site

"He’s the embodiment of what we all strive to be, honest, loyal and trustworthy," says Christopher Judge in a brief Q&A on the official MGM Stargate SG-1 site, talking about the character of Teal'c, what it was like to get the part and life in general.

SG shows get nods in 2006 Spaceys

Nominations have been announced for the 2006 Spacey Awards, with both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis making appearances in the Viewer's Choice categories - Stargate: Atlantis picks up a nod for Favourite TV Show, though it's up against tough competition from breakout hit Heroes and fellow Sci Fi Channel show Battlestar Galactica.

Meanwhile, Vala Mal Doran (played by Claudia Black) makes an appearance in the Favourite Character You Love to Hate category, while SG:A stalwart Rodney McKay (played by David Hewlett) appears in the Favourite TV Character poll.

Voting is open now for these categories, with the final results shown on Sunday June 3rd. Go here for more details.

SG-1 and SG:A see USA return tonight

If you're in the US, don't forget that tonight sees the return of both Stargate SG-1, in its final season, and Stargate: Atlantis after their extended hiatus on the Sci Fi Channel.

Why not tune in early, to catch fan favourites Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson) and Chris Judge (Teal'c) as they co-host a one-hour Sci Fi Channel special The Mythology of Stargate SG-1? The show, which airs from 7pm (6pm Central), looks at the influence of myths and legends on the show, taking in Egyptian, Norse and Arthurian mythology along the way.
