MGM greenlights two SG-1 movies

"There's a sense of an era for us ending, but at the same time, we're all positive because of the prospect of continuing forward with movies..." said Brad Wright, when interviewed by US television website TV Guide.

TV Guide has announced that MGM have given the green light to two made-for-television movies, one of which will wrap up the storylines left hanging by Stargate SG-1 season 10. Both movies, with the second featuring a time travel storyline, will most likely go straight to DVD in late 2007 - none of the cast have been signed as yet.

Sci Fi Channel to launch down under

Australian fans of the sci fi genre have often complained about the reception given to their favourite shows by local television channels - from December 1st, it looks as though they'll have an alternative. US corporations NBC, CBS and Sony have banded together for the launch of the Sci Fi Channel in Australia, according to UK media website Digital Spy.

The channel, available on Foxtel, will carry shows from the Star Trek franchise, as well as other popular shows like Stargate SG-1 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. No word as yet on whether this channel will also show the US channel's more controversial offerings, such as ECW Wrestling.
