It has become clearer that Daniel's knowledge and perceptiveness will save the day when he detects some tiny but significant clues to do with Osric, the Librarian who leads SG1 and Baal, participating in an uneasy truce, to the cave where he says they will find the Sangraal. Because of Daniel's meticulous study of the Book of Origin he notices when Osric paraphrases an Ori teaching about seeking the truth and suspicion grows. Later when the team face tests along the way to their destination our keen eyed archaeologist sees that ring that Osric proffers when they must part with a personal possession is Ori in design, not Celtic as would be expected given the cultural background of the planet.

Armed with this knowledge, SG1 challenges Osric as Daniel details the clues that lead him to doubt his honesty. Cornered, Osric transforms and appears to them in "his" real form - Adria!

Brad Wright Predicts More Stargate in Future

Brad Wright—co-executive producer of SCI FI Channel's original series Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis — told SCI FI Wire he's confident that the longstanding franchise could spin off more series and even a feature film. Projects in the works include a third TV series, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game and a movie, he said in an interview.

"What we've built is now bigger than all of us," Wright said. "Even if I were to not do the movie, I know somebody is going to do a Stargate movie. It's the second largest franchise for MGM next to Bond. So it's got significant brand potential, and by two series doing as well as they are and a game coming out, that could really, really, really brand the show in a big way. That's what they like in this business: a larger franchise with so many legs to it that it could go into the future for years to come."

The franchise began with the 1994 feature film Stargate, followed by SG-1 on Showtime in 1996. That series moved to SCI FI in 2002 and will begin its unprecedented 10th season on July 14, becoming the longest-running SF show in American television history. Atlantis spun off of SG-1 in 2004 and kicks off its third season also on July 14.

Stargate SG-1 Episode The Quest

Details of a new season ten Stargate SG-1 episode written by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie and to be directed by Andy Mikita are now to hand. Filming is scheduled to start around the 23rd of this month. Read on for detailed spoilers and avert your eyes now if you don't want to know!

The episode, to be called "The Quest" sees the SG1 team continuing their
search for the "Sangraal" or Holy Grail which they believe to be Merlin's secret weapon to destroy ascended beings which they learned of in season nine episodes Arthur's Mantle and Camelot. It seems they may even have to join forces with an old enemy to attain their objective.

The search for the Sangraal takes SG1 to a Medieval village and its ancient archive where they believe is held a document known as the "Parchment of Virtues". On arrival, they are dismayed to learn from villagers that Baal has been there three days before them. At the archive they find the librarian Osric, a seemingly old and fragile man who relies on his faith to guide him. Ominously he seems similar in his unwaveringly faith to other more dangerous adversaries that SG1 has met. Is he all that he appears to be?

At their request, Osric produces the parchment which he tells them was said to have been left there ages before by Morgan Le Fay herself to guide "knights of noble spirit", as it is told that only the most virtuous will find the Grail. Daniel translates the ancient in which the document is written and tells the team that the grail is beyond the reach of the "flawed and tainted" and will only be found by one who speaks the guardian's name.

SG1 learn that the grail is believed to lie beyond the forest outside the village and that Morgan is said to have laid a terrible curse on the entire area and the guardian in the parchment is none other than a fearsome dragon said to eat villagers foolish enough to stray too far from the village. Though he believes that the grail will be well guarded, Daniel is skeptical that such a creature exists any more than a unicorn does. Vala has never even heard of either...

Osric tells them there is also a map but it is not for public view as the last people he showed it to tried to steal it. Realising this must have been Baal the team try to change his mind telling him that they are more trustworthy but he will not be moved so SG1 adjourn to a nearby tavern to consider their options. Vala is keen to go back and steal the map, characteristically Daniel would prefer to speak to Osric again to convince him that their search is virtuous. They know that Baal has a considerable head start, will they perhaps have to
enlist his help in the quest to vanquish the Ori?

MGM Has Big Plans for Stargate

In an article on MultiChannel News:

But MGM has big plans. Executive vice president Charles Cohen (see related story) says MGM “intends” to develop a theatrical movie “derived from the series over the last 10 years” that would ideally “dovetail” into a third Stargate television show.

Theatricals would “not in any way impair” SG1's television run, he asserts. He believes it's possible for three Stargate series to air concurrently, not unlike the Law & Order franchise. “If you look at SG-1 — with bringing in Claudia [Black], Ben [Browder] and Beau [Bridges] — we've retooled the series with it still being SG-1. I'd like to see SG-1 go another 10 years. I love the show. I'd like to keep it on forever and keep adding to it.”
