SG partwork launches in the UK

Fans of Stargate SG-1 in the UK now have the chance to collect episodes of the series on dvd along with an illustrated magazine which the publishers claim will include "detailed files on all the characters, myths, planets, technology and alien races" they might encounter along the way.

At present 43 issues, with 3 episodes per dvd, are planned (starting at £3.99 for the first issue, then rising to £7.99 a time), the dvd of 'Children of the Gods' being added as a special gift for subscribers - by our calculation that still only goes up to partway through season 6 but perhaps there's more planned if these sell well?

"I was just saying this morning that I think Stargate’s one of the few shows that’s appreciated by the audience less for the necessity of Science Fiction elements incorporated into it, but more for how an individual element affects a character."

That's the view of Michael Shanks in an exclusive interview with Icon magazine, talking about the prospect of season 9, while Christopher Judge talks about how much he enjoys the process of writing and makes a surprising revelation about which character he'd like to be if he wasn't Teal'c.
