LA U Daily News & SciFi Friday

The Los Angeles U Daily News apparently has a thing for the "babes" on science fiction shows. Since The SciFi Channel seems to have taken the approach of promoting that aspect of their three top science fiction shows this season in order to garner media attention, I suppose it's to be expected, although you have to wonder why after mouthing platitudes for so long about how many female viewers their channel has, SciFi would go so far out of their way to now insult and alienate said female viewers of these shows ...

In any case, the U Daily News says ...

Friday on the Sci Fi channel is either for watching babes or some pretty good shows - "Stargate SG-1," "Stargate Atlantis" and "Battlestar Galactica," which all kick off new seasons. The guys, however, seem kinda interchangable. There's even a joke on "Stargate" about how the new team member Ben Browder ("Farscape" alum) looks like Michael Shanks (Dr. Daniel Jackson). They do look alike. That's not a problem with Claudia Black (Browder's "Farscape" alum), who plays sexy (and she is) and Amanda Tapping, who always hints at something fiery beneath her military reserve. And has the exotic-looking Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) on "Atlantis" ever covered her midriff? But "Battlestar's" top gun "Starbuck" (Katee Sackhoff), with her muscle; the secret Cylon Sharon (Grace Park), with her passion; and the seductive Six (Tricia Helfer), always in something provocative, are frakking (you know what that means if you watch the show) cool. And the shows, starting at 8 p.m. and repeated starting at 11 p.m., are pretty good, too.
