SciFi Slashes Opening Credits for Stargate

Early reports coming out of the Creation Official Stargate Convention in Burbank, CA have indicated that SciFi Channel has requested that the opening credits for both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis be completely slashed down to a mere *10* seconds, leaving out all actor credits (until, one presumes, they are simply shown over the opening action of the episode itself). This means no more soaring theme music. No introduction of the main characters and actors on SG-1. Producer Joe Mallozzi confirmed elsewhere on the web that this was true and had been done by the request of The SciFi Channel. He also confirmed that the show itself would remain the same length -- in other words, more commercials would be inserted in place of the openings. Fan reaction so far has been stunned disbelief -- and anger.
