Both the print version of TV Guide (for the week of February 13th, 2005) and the current online version of TV Guide (in the Ask Matt Roush column) are featuring letters from viewers about Stargate SG-1 Michael Shanks and his character, Daniel Jackson. The online letter is wondering why Stargate SG-1 star Michael Shanks has been removed from SciFi Channel's recent promotional ads. The writer feared he was once again leaving the show. As reported here earlier in a statement from Michael Shanks' publicist at Michael Shanks Online, Mr. Shanks is not leaving Stargate SG-1 and has indeed signed on for a 9th season.
The printed letter takes issue with an earlier TV Guide comment that Ben Browder is Stargate's "new leading man" and expresses the opinion that they have "always found the star attraction to be Dr. Daniel Jackson, incomparably portrayed by Michael Shanks. His costars may get higher billing and more press, but Shanks is the heart and soul of the show."
